Obagi Top 10 Beauty Resolutions You’ll Want to Keep at All Times
1. Wear sunscreen. Every day
This is a no-brainer, and when used as part of a
comprehensive sun protection program,
a broad spectrum sunscreen is one of the
best ways to help keep your skin looking as healthy and youthful as possible!
2. Drink more water
Water nourishes your
cells, tissues, and organs – and guess what your biggest organ is? Your skin!
Staying properly hydrated can help fight some of the visible signs of
dehydration, including dryness and wrinkling. So keep that water bottle
filled up!
3. Visit your skin care physician
for a check-in
It’s a good idea to check in with your trusted skin care
provider at least once a year, even if you don’t have a particular concern or
question at the time. And, be sure to ask him or her if there’s anything else
you need to do or other products you can add to your routine to help you
achieve your healthiest skin.
4. Think Vitamin C
Oranges and lemons
come to mind when we think of Vitamin C, but we invite you to think about this
ingredient’s benefits for your skin. Vitamin C provides antioxidants and can help
defend against the visible signs of aging due to environmental factors.
Specifically, it can help calm inflammation, brighten skin, retain moisture,
and support the skin's natural defenses against UV.
5. Finally get that extra hour of sleep
Don’t we always say, If
I just had an extra hour to sleep…? Well, we CAN have it! Try planning it out
this way: decide when you need to get up in the morning, and count back 7½ to 8
hours – that’s when you should probably go to bed. And if you need some
motivation to get yourself in bed earlier, know that lack of sleep can be a
factor in developing under-eye bags.
6. Don’t forget your neck! (And chest!)
It’s easy to remember to use your skin care
products on your face – that’s what stares back at you in the mirror, after
all. But don’t forget to pay attention to your neck and chest, as well – they
are often exposed to the same sun and environmental factors as your face.
7. Eat your vitamins (whenever possible)
What better time to
reassess your diet than the new year, right? Eating healthier is probably one
of the most popular resolutions, and likely one of the promises most abandoned
by February. So, break it down a bit: try adding one food at a time to your diet
that is packed with the vitamins your body needs. Because even though
supplements are convenient, they can never fully replace the nutrition that
whole foods provide your body.
8. Invest in a skin care system for your unique skin care needs
If you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, or beyond, now
is a great time to find a skin care system that directly addresses the needs of
your skin at this point in time. Whether your biggest concern is the fine lines
starting to show up, persistent acne, or visible signs of aging, your doctor
can help direct you to a system that’s right for you.
9. Consider your true commitment
Many skin care systems involve 4, 5, or even
more steps – and best results often come from using the whole system twice a
day.
10. Smile often
Your smile spreads joy to others, which in turn
can make you feel that wonderful, happy glow that lights you up from within.
It’s a wonderful cycle to be caught in. So, remember to laugh
more, smile often, and have fun!
